Entering the field of Program Monitoring and Evaluation

 

Develop your skills to effectively operate as a consultant in program monitoring & evaluation.

In recent years, interest in program improvement, effectiveness and accountability has tremendously grown in government, international funding agencies, private and nonprofit organizations as they are required to assess the effectiveness of their programs. In order to comply with such requirements those organizations strive to recruit professionals trained in evaluation, performance management, strategy execution, administrative efficiency and capacity building, to name a few.

You’ll be introduced to the theory and practice of program evaluation for public and nonprofit organizations. The framework used for this professional development course is intended to provide participants with knowledge and skills development opportunities regarding important steps that must be taken in any evaluation such as understanding the ins and outs of program evaluation approaches and methodologies; critically assessing the appropriateness of evaluation approach with respect to the nature, context and objectives of the program; and selecting appropriate methods to collect and analyse data to support conclusions about effectiveness.

To equip individuals and organisations to more effectively design program evaluation using a range of appropriate methods.

NGO and agency employees, consultants, students and every people interested in making their way into program management.

How you’ll learn

The course is designed to work with a maximum of 25 participants, to ensure highly participatory and active learning. Learning activities will comprise a mixture of presentations, and individual and small group work around a set of case studies. As the course progresses, participants will apply their knowledge incrementally to complete an evaluation design of a project or programme.

Entrance requirements

You should have an interest in evaluation of development projects, programmes or policies, including an undergraduate degree in the social sciences or related subject. One year of work experience is a plus.

Course fees

The five-day course costs $0.000 CAD. The cost includes lunches and refreshments, an evening group dinner, and course materials. It does not include accommodation. Once you have received confirmation that your application has been approved, the fee must be paid in full on receipt of invoice.

  • Step 3: As soon as your payment has been received, you will be sent confirmation of your place on the course and a letter to support your visa application (if needed), including Information about local accommodation. Please, note participants are responsible for organizing their own travel. However, some assistance can be provided by the course coordinator.
